2001-07-28 - 9:06 p.m. THE 500 DAY SLEEP -- THE END On February 21, 2000 I wrote this poem in anticipation of a wonderous reunion... As we near the end of that long journey I think its a good time to share it with my new readers... Not all stories have happy endings, but life is not story to be told, it's a journey to be lived... God Bless you Calpurnia! Blame not yourself oh sweet Calpurnia. For innocence bathes thee in harmless waters. The new day brings hope and wisdom, And the morning shall have no mourning. Love is yours this day. Open your eyes to its possibility. Let not errors of your past slither up to snarl your present. Be open to new messages from your inner world. And keep sacred the loves you gave the love you give and the love you shall receive. Grieve no longer sweet Calpurnia. For your tears have washed away your guilt and sorrow, May your memories be clean and joyous. Cry not for your losses, But shed only happy tears for what will come after the 500-day sleep. I have rejoiced in thy memories. And I have received new hope for my life. As is your eternal beauty, you continue to shine brightly in my heart. I wait the day you awaken from thy long sleep, And cherish the flowering beauty that will emerge from thy cocoon. I have learned much: How incredibly mature youth can be. How incredibly hurtful true love still is… But it was my journey too, And I have found a most wondrous treasure, you Calpurnia, you. That our game turned hurtful was the price we paid for cheating time. To be older yours to be younger mine. Yet now the sands of the hourglass run on your 500-day sleep. No more guilt -- all is forgiven. Rest peacefully sweet Calpurnia, for love awaits thee. You be you, whatever you may be. LB Even if it is without me!
