2000-11-09 - 15:33:25 THE FINAL OUTCOME OF THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION… Here is my official prediction of the outcome. Al Gore to win Florida by less and 100 votes… The overseas ballots will tip the scales. WHAT WE KNOW SO FAR: Latest Florida Recount Numbers Recount results from all of the state's 67 counties gave Republican Bush a lead of only 327 votes out of nearly 6 million cast, according to an unofficial tally by The Associated Press. WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT: The final recount will force the opening of the 2000 overseas ballots… State elections officials said the current canvassing of votes should be completed Thursday, but officials must wait until at least Nov. 17 to certify the results. That's the deadline for the approximately 2,000 ballots cast by Floridians living overseas - mostly military personnel and their families - to arrive in the state. The ballots must be postmarked by Election Day. The Bush camp feels these overseas ballots will split mostly Republican based on the way Bob Dole saw them in 1996. However, Dole was a decorated war veteran running against Bill Clinton who never served in the military. That is the fatal flaw in the Republicans assumption. In today's election Al Gore has the military edge, and will attract the vote of minorities overseas who tend to vote democratic. When this happens the law suits brought by Gore supporters will be dropped...
