2000-10-30 - 21:27:55 HO! HO! HOLD-ON NOW! Well it’s the Holiday Season once again… Frankly I think we should take a serious look at the way we celebrate holidays in this country... Not that I’m a grinch or a scrooge, or a Jack-be-Nimble (I bet even this fairy tale character had a list a mile long)… Anyway back to my point if I can remember it. Shopping in Bloomingdale’s over the weekend I noticed they already had their Christmas decorations going up. Hold on! Did I miss Thanksgiving? Did Halloween pass already? What’s with this rush to celebrate, isn’t life rewarding enough. Apparently not. What with Wall Street applying pressure for these publicly traded retail outlets to get things moving, and moving fast, they all apparently decided to jump-start Christmas and Chanukah. Nothing new there, but this has to be a record, pre-Halloween, pre-Election Day? Gimme a break! OK, so we all need a little love, I do you do she does. But I want my family to celebrate the holidays in the manner in which they were intended -- loving each other as a continuation from every other day and enjoying the beauty of the season as a marker that we have loved each other and grown with each other another year… My daughter Elizabeth will certainly know love, and will never want for it. As will her mother and our son and our friends and neighbors and other families… So as we enter this Holiday Season, lets try to remember one thing… (AUDIENCE PARTICIPTION TIME) Please send me the one thing you think we should remember this Holiday Season and I promise to post them here next week… Indicate if you want your name withheld...
